Another gorgeous morning at cascade meadows. I got here 40 minutes before sunrise and even at that point there was some faint red in the clouds, so I knew I was in for a treat. About 10 minutes before sunrise the entire sky explodes, most of the color was actually behind me, and the meadow fills with this nice soft light.
I've shot this mountain enough to know that the sun doesn't hit it until the color has mostly faded from the clouds, it's a rare treat when you get light on the mountain and color in the clouds. I believe what is actually happening is the light is hitting the clouds and then bouncing onto the mountain, I don't think there is any direct sunlight actually on the mountain.
Nice shot Andy Beautiful colours.. autumn sure is in full swing. Is this one a HDR? Just noticed the grass up front looks a bit odd, like there's multiple exposures and they've blown in the wind between shots. Maybe just odd compression?
No HDR, it's just wind blowing the grass around. Devon, I think it is a bit too sharp. This was taken with my Sigma and I used the same sharpening for web I use on my Canon. but I don't think the Sigma needs as much sharpening.
It's not out of focus, just blurry from the wind. I actually have a second shot where the wind was not blowing, I wonder if people would like that one better.
