A wonderful set of photos, Eric, and a wonderful tribute to a beautiful animal. You've caught a range of moods, behaviors, and offspring; thanks for sharing your experiences.

She was easy on the eyes Greg and never disappointed...I was fortunate to see her as the supermodel and as the huntress...both were very impressive!

Those photographs of Olive are extraordinary. When I look at her, she seems content, even to the point of recognizing you personally. We all get to see the outside of her, and her environment. But since we are not cats, we don't get to know what she is really thinking or feeling. Your work cries out for that information, and the result is a heart to heart connection. "I am a cat, and this is my life" may have been her words to you. While her chapter has ended, her book certainly hasn't. I hope you will be able to return and have Olivettes to follow in the future. Well done, and thanks for sharing a part of your life.

Lovely words Jim...I have always felt a connection with big cats...this one in particularly would stare and look right thru to my soul...at least I imagined so...I have heard that many others felt similarly about her and can only hope her offspring are as she was.

Wonderful, wonderful tribute to a cat I was hoping to finally meet next year in the Mara. It is nature's way, harsh as it is...
So sorry you won't be seeing her next year but I bet her by then fully grown cubs will be out making life miserable for the local antelopes. In some way having closure in the life of a predator at least takes the mystery out of it. Most seem to just disappear and their whereabouts and fate is left to speculation.

How lucky you were to observe and photograph Olive, what a beautiful animal. That last image really strikes right to the soul - simply gorgeous and touching. Wonderful tribute, Eric, thank you for sharing.
So sorry to hear that Eric. I have very much enjoyed your posts over the years and Olive was certainly the star! Nature is brutal, and beautiful at the same time, and you've really shown that in your imagery. Much appreciated.
Superb images of the beautiful Olive and her offspring Eric... really... superb.
Your tribute is equally beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing Olive's life with us, I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.
Excellent work.

Many thanks Jim...that last image has been my favorite since I took it in 2010...it is my screensaver on my computer, and phone...it also sits in my office blown up and I get to see it every day...and it does to me exactly what you suggested.

Thank you so much for your kind words and it won't be the same going back to the Mara without her.

Greg, I very much appreciate you kind words and sentiments. It is not often we "bond" with a wild animal to this extent...I'm glad my feelings came across photographically.

Thanks so much Kirk...she was a perfect subject...calm, photogenic, and with a bad ass attitude when called for.

Thanks Mike...I'm sure one of her cubs will take up her territory...whether she is as good as mom is left to be seen...maybe I'll see you in Cape May!
