What I find interesting is the fact that the technology is still in its infancy. Remember spending 4000 dollars on a 286 computer and loving it. That was about 20 years ago. Where are we in the digital camera spectrum.?. Are we at the 386 chip, the 486? It will be fascinating to see where we are in say 10 years.

Ouch that is still a painful memory. Can you say "High Memory"

So I guess the moral is if you want it cheap and fast sit on the side lines, it will be available soon - If you want to be an earlier learner get the best you can afford and overclock like crazy.

GETTING BACK ON TOPIC ... this is the first I have heard of a 5th September rumour. I thought that Canon had made all their pre-Photokina announcements already with a new DSLR, 2 new lenses, a new flash, and a whole slew of P&S digital cameras. Surely that's enough work for now?
I would not be surprised if 5 Sept came and went without any announcement from Canon.
