p.1 #1 · Once In A Lifetime Gulf Fritillary-Edited
I planted some passion flower vines with the hope of attracting the Gulf Fritillary. Today, when least expected, all the planting, tending, watching and waiting came together . ( A bit like life just when you are ready to quit sometimes the best things happen )
There she was moving so fast , stopping for only very brief seconds to lay her eggs and then moving on.
My heart leap as she landed ever so briefly on a vine tendril hanging all by itself unobstructed . A prayer was sent up asking to please let me get the shot .
Don't know if you have ever had the sense that the scene before you is a once in a lifetime opportunity. That is how I felt today. I know it's only a butterfly , but I was so thrilled, grateful and ever so thankful .
As always your suggestions, comments, nits and crits are much appreciated. You are teaching me so much , and I thank you.
Hope you enjoy this as much as I did taking it
Birdie
P.S. Thank you Karl, for the suggestions. You are right

Yes indeed a shot of lifetime perhaps and you have this one pinpoint sharp too with an excellent exposure.
This is a shot that IMO that less will equal more..............I am seeing this one in a much narrower crop, clone out the all but one leaf closest to the stem and work on a bit darker BG.
Ohhhh how I wish I had this shot, gosh birdie goood things come to good people, this is a reward and a very cool image for sure.

Now, is that cool or what?! Such a great shot as though you planned it out...which apparently you did! Beautifully composed and photographed....big congrats on your butterfly of your life!

Great job..so very nice when something you've planned, thought wasn't going to pay any dividends and comes back to surprise you results in something like this. I think something in between the original crop and the close crop that you've shown would probably work best...but you did a great job...congrats
