That is your choice but an unfortunate one in my opinion as you will miss out on some of the highest quality work posted here. I will continue to look for her posts, despite the nonsense, as they push and challenge me as an amateur / hoppy photographer. And I have found Lisa to be more than helpful and considerate when I have questions or comments especially with her busy personal and professional schedule.
Not really an unfortunate choice, I see the photos on my news feed on Facebook where there is a whole lot less 'ugly' and the dialog is never 'this'. The pendulum swings both ways when it becomes as personal as it has and when there is no longer a pathway to discussing merits of what others see and think in a step back analytical approach because everyone is so defensive and touchy.
Again (feel like a broken record) I am grateful for all CC delivered in a kind and helpful manner. I take and apply the CC that works for me but am not required to make every change or agree with everything posted. That makes no sense to think so. Being defensive and disagreeing with CC are 2 very different things. I still haven't seen any of your work, btw, but somehow, that does not surprise me.
And does 'taking criticism like an adult', in your mind, mean that you have to agree with blatant nonsense posted accusing you of doing ridiculous things to your images? Like 'blurring jaw lines' for example? I didn't do that so of course I'm going to say something.
Either way, the bottom line is that I am OVER booked in the coming months and will not have time to engage in this sort of nonsensical drama unless my well paying clients want to wait weeks for their images - which they do not, I'm sure.

Lisa, when you say you are "overbooked", are you talking about photo shoots, or the post-processing workshops where people pay you to learn how to do your "heavy-handed" editing techniques? Probably a combination of both, huh?

Again, if you can't take your work being commented on in a sincere manner, stop posting it here.
Who are you to suggest anyone stop posting their work here? If you have a problem in how your abrasive style of critique is taken, why not just move on to the next thread where someone might be more appreciative of your feedback?
You've complained enough. We've heard you. This thread isn't about you, it's about Lisa's work.

Another great series Lisa. The first image is my favorite here. I also think that the lying on the horse shots are a bit awkward. But the rest are great
All very beautiful work, especially the wonderfully backlit #1.
To nitpick a little:
I'm not sure why the "lying on the horse" pose has ruffled feathers. It doesn't work in #12; it's very awkward from that angle. But it's fine in #13 and fantastic in #2.
I'm not crazy about "standing around in a random spot" environmental portraits. I find them a little awkward and stiff. #14 and to a lesser extent #13b fall into this trap. #7 doesn't because sitting on the edge of a porch is a thing people do "in real life." #3 and #6 don't because she has props to interact with. #4 doesn't because the location was deliberately chosen and really adds something to the image. If all else fails, #8 doesn't because DoF is shallow enough that the environment stays a background instead of becoming a secondary character. I would've shot her actually walking the road.

Now this is great CC - helpful and delivered in a kind tone - thank you!! I agree with almost all of your comments. I secretly wish she'd choose an image other than #12 to use as her profile pic. haha
At the beginning of the day...and the end of the day...Lisa is a professional. Its her work, her pictures, her client. If she says her clients love these...then thats that...end of story.
She posted pics to share, she didn't ask for feedback, she didn't ask for critique, she definitely didn't ask for input on her processing or posing. She can ask for those things, but she didn't. So obviously she is happy and content with what she has..WHY DON"T PEOPLE GET THAT?

Ummmm. Becasue this became a before an after exercise of edit discsussions...edits that Lisa did with a sort of precursor/disclaimer of I know you might not like this one, but what about this one instead. (Like I said, the pendulum swings both ways)
But setting that open door aside...let's get back to the conflct between the members on FM who insist that she did something that she says she did not do.
Why then...just a bunch of trolls? Is she a liar Or is there somehting really technically conflicting going on that is creating this ongoing rift?
I mean, it seems to me that some of the posters are professional editors. We all know that Lisa's technique is a signature for her and it is quite saturated, but the other nuances with blur or freckles, lets call it details that come up in the critique..what's up with that.
They say she did, she said she didn't.
I'd like to see this settled. I think I made that pretty clear. No longer tongue in cheek.
I don't think any of it really matters? People can either take my word for it or let it go. Only I know what I did and did not do to my own photos and I have never once in my life blurred someone's jaw line in post processing. People start throwing crazy things out there saying I did this or I did that and YES, I'm going to speak up and counter that when they are totally off base. In the end though, it really doesn't matter much, does it? People pay good money for me to do sessions for them and they all seem to be very happy with their photos. I'm happy with where my photography is at today. Do I think I have no room for improvement? Of course not! I am always hoping to learn new things and grow. I hope that never changes. Again, it all comes down to the delivery of the CC. Some people have no tact nor kind intentions and I don't go for that. Nor do I go for ridiculous accusations of 'you did this or that' to the photo when I did not. It's all really pretty simple.

Whether she did it intentionally or not, there was an obvious blur around the jaw line, you can clearly see it in her re-edit post, and that's what was brought up. There's definite skin smoothing in all of her post work, whether she's intentionally doing it or not, it's there, and that it brought up... but those are frequently shot down by her, then by her hoard... some of which seem to think it's appropriate to personally attack other members in her defense.
with this, I'm officially done with lisa's posts, and will no longer engage in any of her threads. Good night all.
Listen Lisa, for what it's worth - you are so much like me, especially when I started out, it's not even funny. Any crit I recieved would either be scoffed away in contrast to the majority who enjoyed it; I would cite people to show me there own work in defense to criticism of mine; I thought I was king sh*t of photography (and I still do in many regards) and didn't need to hear negativity from anyone. It was quite the complex to deal with, and to some extent, I still do.
However, and I mean this very truly, this attitude will only hinder your growth as an artist, and as a professional. You will inevitably regard how you're acting now as a truly missed opportunity to grow and, if you were at all like me, feel embarassed and shamed with yourself.
It's awesome to love your own work and even try to explain your choices, but there is no reason to try and fool those who know better in regards to editing; no reason to justify images with an explanation of how much a client liked it. It's obvious you have a huge fan following which is super - I imagine a large source of your income comes from social media marketing like this and selling yourself to your followers as much as your work - but try and do better then I did with my conduct. If you 'quit' the site before, it's more then fair to assume you have a personal issue with critique and negativity (who wants sugar-coated crit?); just state 'no critiques please' at the start of your posts. Hell, I used to and sometimes still do. But keep in mind because a large number love you, doesn't mean the minority are wrong; I think my FB page sits under...400?...people right now, but I imagine my past client list would probably suprise you.
Anyways, keep posting, and I'll keep posting in your threads, too. All the best.
edit - Actually, the fooling in regards to editing does make sense - you sell 'retouching' classes (as that one chap here loves to talk about in all your threads. Is he on payroll?), so I guess saying everything that is done to a photo wouldn't be very sensical.
