I keep looking at these trying to figure out "what" produced the catchlights. was it just the sky? seemed like something else too. Not something you introduced to the scene since I know you didn't use any light modifiers, but something already at the location if that make sense.
Amazing work, Lisa! I'm curious -- your profile says that you have a 5dIII, but you used the 5DII for these. Why the II over the III? Thanks for sharing these!
Amazing portraits. Enjoyed them very much. The original sooc image that you posted long ago and now gone. I sure would like to see what to see what all the kerfuffle is all about.
Nice, but it would be special if this kind of commercial portraiture could reflect the more natural, less processed look revealed by Elena Shumilova. Probably not what less sophisticated clients want, however.

I'm not Elena Shumilova and I have my own style (that I rather like, thank you very much). I do not like desaturated, vintage washed post processing. Less sophisticated clients? How incredibly rude. Nice dig at the people I work with. FWIW, if you think Elena isn't running her images through the post processing gamut (albeit differently than me), you are smoking crazy crack. Thanks for your thoughts none the less. No - not really. Please refrain from insulting my clients if you must open your trap next time.

! I disagree with almost everything Lisa says, but if you can't see the absolute batsh*t crazy amount of editing that goes into one of Elena's shots, you really should look again.
I disagree with almost everything Jeremy says, but I completely agree with him here. And to call one's clients "less sophisticated"? Where did that come from? Definitely not from the book, "How to make friends and influence people".

Don't you that desaturated and vintage washed is the new 'unedited' look?
I don't even know if it's that - actually, I find the editing is very sophisticated, it's actually quite great in a lot of respects when you break it down...the only thing that grinds my gears is not her work itself, but the media send-up of it - "Russian mom captures magical family, farm life in beautiful photos" - the images are magic because they've got more coats of paint then a Vegas showgirl. It is effective however, and looks great.
