Birdie!!! I LOVE them ALL!!
If I had to pick, I would pick number 2 because he in on a branch looking down at flowers! Now that's really special

Wonderful, Birdie, and as I just mentioned to BeeBalm, I really love seeing hummers caught naturally (especially in a beautiful garden).
But for this set, my favorites are the gladiola and the snail. Both have a terrific composition and impact; both stunning and joyful to see. (I would be interested to see what the snail might look like with a broad vignette in the periphery--different sort of image, to draw the viewer directly to the animal).

awesome stuff birdie! i really like the snail shot. i like hot the spiral of the shell is perfectly centered. everything else in the image appears/feels to revolve around this subject as a result. very clever!

Birdie, you seem to always find the right combo no matter what your weather may be. What a grand set of photos. Absolutely love that perched hummer.

What a great set Birdie
Thank you !
Love the beach shot Birdie Its my favorite time of day
Michael, thank you. It is a wonderful time of the day
A real joy to view...very nice work!
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed them.
Top notch set Birdie. The hummers are wonderful. Butterfly is superb. Snail shot is a treat. Glad you shot the glad. Great depth of field on that one, yet you still have a nice blurred bg. Processing or out of the camera? Very enjoyable set.
Thank you very much Ken. The glad blurred background is both camera and processing. I cloned out some stems from the top right portion then filled it with the background from the bottom side
Looking good - keep em coming.
Jim
Thank you Jim ! I have plenty more
Wonderful set Roberta. You have mastered the art of photography though there is always room to improve. This is a super set and the only nit I can see is that the very nice butterfly photo could use a tiny bit more DOF for complete sharpness. This might have messed up the nice background so it may have been the best choice. This is a stunning set!
Morris
Morris you are far too kind . I was using the 300 with 1.4 TC for the butterfly. I always seem to forget how that combo changes the dof. I should have stopped down some more, but did not realize it until after it had flown away .
Fine job on these, Birdie. These all show beautiful colors and detail and the subjects are well isolated against a smooth bg.
I like the Gladiolus shot, but I feel it is framed too tight for my taste.
Lovely colors in the Sunrise at Dauphin Island. The clouds are really adding to the image. Straightening the horizon will make the shot almost perfect
Socrate
Thank you so very much Socrate . I will look at the crop and the horizon
Each and every one is stunner Birdie, wow what a set!!! I was going to pick the snail as my favorite because of how well you saw this. Then I got to the glads and was ready for a final 2 as my picks, then I got to the final shot! You have my head spinning Superb work Birdie, a pure joy to behold.
Tim
Tim, your words are so generous , thank you. I saw the snail and hoped it would not move until I could get a shot, not often I see one that is not hidden by leaves.
What could anyone possibly have to nit or crit about this set? These are stunning, the first one and the beach shot are my favorites!
Jo
Thank you so very much Jo. I appreciate you stopping in and commenting

The Peanut Gallery thinks these are all swell pictures, Birdie .
Hard to pick one I like better than the first hummer- but I like the swallowtail equally.

Thank you so very much Greg . I had not thought of doing a broad vignette, but will definitely give it a try, thank you

Dorian, greatly appreciated. Glad you like the snail and the composition, thank you.
Terrific set Birdie, every one of them. Your butterflies / moths are exceptional!

2,3,4 favs
beautiful stuff, the snail is great, the DOF fades away just perfectly, kind of dreamy how the spiral just spins around the shell and then it all fades out of focus
man that hummer really is peeping intensely!! not a look often captured or seen
p.2 #13 · More From The Garden- Hummers, Butterfly and Others
only crits are a little more DOF on the wings of the swallowtail might help (it's tricky I usually end up a little shy all the time and it's also tricky since that can make the background worse)

Thank you , much appreciated. There was an adult male around running everyone off, so this youngster was looking for the adult

and the crop on the glad on top
Agree about the DOF. I need to keep that in mind especially when shooting with the TC. As to the glad, unfortunately I cut it off in the shot
Sharp, colorful images. Great Hummingbird shots and I love your framing and overall composition. Creative work!

From the bottom up..........
#6.......I too love a beach scene Lots of drama in the sky, spectacular setting sun. Nit, check horizon for level
#5 A favorite flower and especially in this coloring, nice comp, nice shot
#4 Top shot You got me on this one, what a fantastic vision here Birdie, as if the snail is a trophy the way it is presented.........best use of simplicity I have seen in a long time, nailed it!
#3 Just as it is for me, my eyes go right to where you wanted them to go with no complaints. I like the sharp body and the somewhat diffused wings, lovely!
#2 Great light, great comp, interesting how it draws me to also look below
#1 That is one incredible Hummer/Glad shot! Colors you have obtained are impeccable. Sharpness on Hummer is excellent as is the exposure, Glads are pristine and loving the edge sharpness........All Good Here
