Ok. A weird thing has happened. I think I'm liking the X-M1 better than the X-E1. I miss the viewfinder, but the X-M1 is just more responsive, the tilt screen comes in so handy, and its actually better for manual focus. Focus peaking works really well on the screen of the X-M1, and the fact I can finally zoom in if needed while the camera is writing an image makes it much more usable for MF. The size is great too. So, if the X-E2 has a less leggy viewfinder, incorporates all the XM1 stuff and adds a tilt screen, I'll be one happy camper. ...Show more →
I know what you mean. Other than the plasticky build, this is a pretty slick little camera. Fairly speedy, comfortable to use, and the screen is great. I decided to pick one up for my 27mm pancake and they go great together. The only other camera of comparable size I've used was the E-PL2, and this runs circles around it for handling.

Can't deny it's a good looking camera.
I do wish the macro button could be remapped.
How do you like this camera compare to Sony 5N...
I already picked EF-M, might think of selling Sony to pick either used XE1 (going for around $450 wo lens, sometimes) or new XM1.. High ISO is something is pushing me towards Fuji...
if we keep the cameras out of picture, how bad is this lens compare to faster heavier version... (yes, this is good lens, but comparing with its big bro..)

I see maybe a stop or half a stop in overall noise performance IMO.
The files have a bit more fidelity, better color depth, and maybe half a stop to a full stop better DR than 5N files. You can push and pull the files apart more before it shows posterization. I think if I used a better RAW developer, the files would be a bigger improvement.
The handling is much, much better in terms of ergonomics and menus.
Nice review, I enjoyed it. BTW, one thing I'd point out is where you say "you can no longer press ‘OK’ to immediately go to the center autofocus point, as OK now confirms the point position". This works on the X-M1 similarly to the X100s, you can press the Disp/Back button to immediately go to the center AF point. I'm not sure why it's different on the X-E1 and X-Pro1, hopefully Fuji fixes that.

Thanks for that! I'll update the review when I get a chance.
