After numerous attempts of trying to capture the Aurora Borealis this year in Oregon. It finally came together this night. I spent three different nights standing from about 7 pm to 4 am to get this, it happened on the third night at about 2 am with a 6.33kp (if anyone understands this kp thing). Although not the best display anyone has ever seen, but its so rare here in Oregon I had to try. I wasn't happy with the weird green/yellowish color I was getting in camera I switched the White balance to Florescent and it looked alot better (at least to me The photo suffers from some shadow noise which comes with Canon 5DM2. Oh well the D600 is in the mail and will be here Friday Goodbye noise! yayyyyyy!! I hope you enjoy this shot. Take care everyone. Have a great day!
Beautiful colours Brian. Love that purple glow and the snow really pops! You will want to give this image a 2 degree CCW turn though. The peak of the mountain should be lined up exactly with it's reflection.
Way to go here! I like your choice of WB on this, I think you nailed it there. You will be really loving your D600. During my trip a few weeks back to Yellowstone I did set up the D600 next to my D800 to shoot some star shots, they sure turned out sweet looking!
