Here are a few portraits that I took on our summer vacation cruise. A few from my wife and daughter as they were getting ready in the mirror, but others of strangers as well. Photographing strangers is not something that comes easy to me so I did have to step out of my comfort zone for a while. Loved some of the results.
My very simple goal was to use available light to try to capture interesting portraits that would convert well to black and white. I was pleased with the results I got for some of these.
Fred,
These are all really special examples of street-portraiture shooting.
Well, except for your wife and daughter- but those shots are also excellent.
Your locals obviously responded well to you, and you followed through magnificently.
Small nit about the Tomb-keeper image. I suggest cloning out the two white specks on the man's lips and the "foreign" material in his right nostril. Real or not- they can be distracting- and do no good otherwise .
Charlie
Charlie, I was really surprised at how willing these people were to having their picture taken. I had never just walked up to someone to ask if I could, and the result was very positive. I did tip the lady begging at the church, as well as the "tomb keeper" because I felt bad taking something that had so much value to me and not offering something that would be valuable to them in return.
I did see the crumbs on the tombkeeper's mouth and actually cloned out some bigger pieces! You're right. I should take those smaller ones out as well.
