See pictures 26-36, these are @ 75mm f2.8 thru f8.0 ...
Wonderful lens, kinda slow focus, but not so slow that I could not capture all of these shots @1600 ISO in very low light: http://www.pbase.com/davekone/monster_jam
Picture below is @75mm f2.8 right ouf of the camera, downsized for the web. No levels, no sharpen etc..

Hmm. I am starting to wonder how would the coming up EF-S 17-85 compare to the Tamron. f4.5 - f5.6 + 3 stop of IS...... would this work better in low light? Sharpness (resolution/contrast technically) seems pretty good from MTF charts. Only place of losing out would be DOF and Bokeh? But you gain the wide angle that you cannot get from the Tamron. Zoom coverage is even better than Tamron. Any thoughts?
You can't really compare a slow lens with IS with a fast lens. Rather different focal length ranges too.

Many ppl are looking at the Tamron as a walk around lens, so is the coming up EF-S lens. True that the Tamron is faster lens, and the other is slower. but IS is pulling the gap closer. Advatange of the new EF-S is definately it's focal range on 1.6x crops. The Tamron is rather inadequate on the wide end in this regard as a walk aroudn lens.
