It looks like one guy has created havoc on B&S. I don't know what impetus is needed here, but if B&S continues to be infected with assorted negative experiences it will eventually end up like photo.net B&S did when I left - a Craig's List of photo equipment. We need a sheriff. Hearing about these scams after the fact isn't cutting it anymore.
If you sweep it under the mat it goes away don't ya know...Whenever someone tries to warn others in the B&S (obvious place for such a warning) it gets removed. Everyone is a happy camper oblivious to the dangers. If it was my site I'd be pasting warnings everywhere & stopping the option of WTB ads.
The lack of apparent action, notification of action & warnings is scary. I can't see how it will help FM's income by trying to avoid combating this head on. For now I am speaking with my wallet & not subscribing to the B&S.
Also thought I'd say that I've been attempting to communicate with him via text and when asking why my camera hadn't shown up I got "shut up" as a response. He knows hes in the wrong and isn't going to do anything about it.

First off, opinions are opinions no matter how you slice it. Go back and reread your questions. You stated, several times, ("does Paypal do that") that with your CC company you stand on higher ground. Some might say that's a little arrogant.
Secondly, you don't mention what CC company provides such great benefits, not that it is relevant to what the OP used. You may be right about how well your CC has served you, but it also allows you to trump anything I say about Paypal specifically. That tactic would be challenged in any debate.
I didn't imply the benefits of Paypal, I just stated them. There is a difference. I stated that "bobjames" opinion was bad advice because his reference to not leave money in Paypal doesn't make sense, or if it did to him, why? No answer from him (yet) leads me to believe he is misinformed or enjoys stirring the pot. That's like saying don't leave any credit on your credit card. Stuff like that will be challenged.
I merely made the opinion (based on my experience) that it is better to use credit card. There is no arrogance involved with actual facts on my behalf. "some say" meaning you?? It is challenged because that's the way you are.
You did not wait for bobjames to reply before you said it was "really bad advice"! If it does not make sense, then a common courtesy would be, "hey can you explain?" instead of a blunt statement you have made. No wonder he didn't reply to your comment.
Buckeye: No hard feelings, man. I addressed the issues as tactfully as I could. We only have the emoticons to express feelings. Maybe there was better word to use in one instance, but generally we both said our peace.
As for looking out for the interests of bobjames, that was a nice gesture, especially if you know him. Based on my experience here, if a person makes a crazy statement, doesn't define it, then is never heard from again.... after 8 pages of comments, it is up to him to further explain. If he doesn't show up again then it's just a drive-by comment. Saying "really bad advice" addresses the advice, not the person. Again, there is a difference.
UPDATE: I just spoke to "Ryan Burns" on the phone. After some childish games from him, I think he is now getting how serious this is and how serious some of you are. Believe me, some of the PM's I'm getting are quite serious and I understands everyones frustrations.
I want to preface this with, I'm not on his side and I don't believe him 100% yet BUT I wanted to tell you all his side of the story and what all happened.
Okay, so he says that when he was making these sales, he did have the merchandise, just like the merchandise he had shipped. However, due to the large amount of money going into his PP account, his account was put on hold until he could provide invoices and other materials to PP. Because of this he said he panicked and didn't want to ship the stuff until he had the cash in his account. He says that he explained this to one buyer and was told to just hang on to the merchandise until it was resolved.
He said that he was trying to avoid the calls until he could get everything with PP resolved but after 24 hrs everyone filed claims which made it impossible for him to fix the issues with PP. So instead of refunding everyones money, his account was put on hold.
Now I don't understand how he wasn't able to just credit everyone but he says that he can't. I told him, had he just been honest, people here are fairly understanding and some of us could have waited.
Believe me guys, I've had it with him. He called me at 4 am with a prank call and it pissed me off. In fact, I've started making my own calls around seeing how I could shake him up. He has apologized for the call and for what he has done. As we all know, he is young.
I've asked him to email EVERYONE that was involved and explain from his side what happened. He said he was also going to go into the notes of the claims and say that he did not ship the merchandise and to refund.
I'm still a little skeptical and will keep my contacts open in case he doesn't come through. Personally, I've had to rent another body which cost me $100 so I'm not out $750. But if I could just get my original purchase back, I'd be happy.
Let's see...if this is the same guy from all the other posts, he is a huge scammer and probably will say anything for us to side with him and make him seem apologetic.
Quick thing that should tip you off, if he wasn't a scammer, why in the world would he prank call you if he was an honest seller??
Let's give him the benefit of the doubt here. A kid is just a kid, they don't usually act rationally.
If he does give effort to resolve the situations, we'll know.
"I've asked him to email EVERYONE that was involved and explain from his side what happened. He said he was also going to go into the notes of the claims and say that he did not ship the merchandise and to refund."
I hope this is the case. If it is, claim notes should be updated today and claim closed and have all our monies back in our account. We'll see. I'm a big skeptic. Don't really believe it until i see results.
I think talking with him is like playing with fire. He obviously has deep-seated issues that cannot be solved by forum members. I think plausible answers to attempt to explain repeated scams comes easy for this kid. Let him alone. There is enough evidence to indite. Call the police.
Also why is the paypal account linked to the address of a rental house in South Carolina if he's in Ontario Canada? The money I sent went to SC that makes me think he set out to scam people he told me from the beginning it would ship from SC and be here overnight.
How is a "kid" going to get possesion of so much expensive gear to sell? His explanation sounds like a stalling tactic while he tries to figure out a way to either get out of trouble or to disappear with a big pile of cash.

Exactly, I was just about to write this.
For such a young and dumb kid, he has a good amount of very nice camera gear.
He's already ripped others on other forums.
He's harrased others on texts/calls..
But yeah, screw it, let's believe his story now,lol..cmon. Scammers are good at this sort of stuff, don't fall for anything until we all have our money bank and he's arrested. Plain and simple, dood needs to learn his lesson about stealing.
I also just texted him telling him to mark my account for refund we'll see if he does I'm not holding my breath. He texted me back to say that he was on the phone with paypal trying get things fixed.
