I found a new to me place to shoot nesting cormorants while I was away. Unfortunately the backgrounds aren't the best, somebody got white stuff all over the rocks The first day I was there a thickish deck of marine air moved in right over head and sat there. The light was unique and had some nice qualities to it so I fired away I did get back to shoot in nice morning light but that's another set for another day! Here is a shot of a couple of males bringing home nesting material for the Mrs. This was going on non-stop as was lots of stealing from others nests and squabbling. Most of the females were on eggs, seems 3 eggs to a nest was the norm. Shots of that to come later also.
#1 is a pretty crazy shot Tim with lots of action and debris
You got me good on #2 buddy, how about that eye and doesn't this Cormie look nice with salad! you got the good colors going on in this one my friend and you know I like this bird!
Birds building nest is a behavior always interesting to watch and most inspiring to witness in person. You did a beautiful work on these, Tim! I like then both especially the second one showing the beautiful feathers detail and the pleasing shades of their color

The spraying water and the motion/ position of the wings convey the action in #1. This is a tremendous shot Tim.
#2 is a shot to die for.Just lovely.

Excellent choice to fire away on these BC's Tim... the light is pretty cool and the white stuff is toned down nicely.
Both have a mouthful of salad... 1/800 blurred the wings perfectly in #1, and the portrait is killer good buddy with terrific detail and those gorgeous blue eyes.
Great stuff... bring on the rest.
