Hey Matthew,
The conversion looks pretty good to me. You have some nice black tones on the pier. Having some deep blacks is always good in a B&W. You could use a layer mask for the sky and pull more detail out of the clouds if you wanted, but this looks good as is.

Thanks for your thoughts Jim. Noted, will have another fiddle later and see how it comes out
