p.1 #1 · Craters of the Moon (3)

I've definitely gotten backed up about month on pictures with both travel and personal things taking up lots of time. I have finally gotten around to processing many photos. Here are three from Craters of the Moon National Monument, the main "attraction" on our Memorial Day trip through Idaho. Any and all C&C is very welcome.

#1 Big Southern Butte Sunset. It had been cloudy most of the afternoon but some slices of light finally began to shine through. I wish I would have stayed through sunset as the light improved but we were heading back to Arco since both my wife and I were tired from a LOT of driving.

#2 First Light Across The Lava. This is a 4 shot pano taken with the 70-200 F/4.

#3. Nothing But Lava. This was taken atop Cinder Cone Butte. At first I didn't like the road being in the shot as it steals the feeling of desolation, but it does give scale and a meager leading line.

I like 3 the best, I'm not normally a fan of shots that have a road in them, but this one works really well.

Hey Aaron,

What an interesting location. #3 is my favorite too. Great lighting and a cool compositon. I could see a pano crop of it where you lose the road, but I do think the road adds not only scale, but contrast as the road contradicts the remote feeling from the top of the shot... Good work.
