p.1 #1 · Advice

Hi All;

I have been given an assignment to shoot the Irish Open (European Tour) in two weeks time.
Played golf for a good many years and know the rules around the course as how they pertain to playing.

So this question goes out to those pros who shoot professional golf on a regular basis, what are the best positions, what are the do and don't for photographers?

Also can you please let me know if the gear below is excessive or not

I plan on bring three bodies with me
1.) 1DX with a 400mm 2.8 for shots from the fairway to the tee box and also to the greens
2.) 1D MKIV with a 70-200mm 2.8 for shots around the fairway, green
3.) 1D MKIV with a 24-70 mm 2.8 for portraits, etc

Any additional input would be appreciated

I don't shoot professional golf (or any golf!) but sites like sportsshooter.com have golf tips. and the golf shooters on http://photography-on-the.net/forum/
I would bring it all or at least two bodies and all the lens - nice gear !

Personally I wouldn't worry about the 24-70. But I think it depends on what your client's needs are.

As for rules, generally you shouldn't be in their line of site. If you are then be by a tree and use it to hide.

If you are close, don't take pictures during the backswing wait until contact or during the follow-through.
