Let me see if Jim pays 11,300 for my on order 200-400 and cashes in on his first dibs on my 800 that should bring it to within striking range of getting a Nikkor 800.

Robert and Jim, I marvel at your joint East-West entrepreneurial initiatives....hopefully your negotiations and labours will come to fruition some day, so that Jim might end up with discounted 200-400L and 800L, and Robert should join Moose Peterson as the only other Nikkor 800 owner on record in North America.

Oh oh! Looks like the CPS Canada price is $10,710 (I couldn't help it).
Now I'm in big trouble...
yes, and if you order from the USA, find out they don't ship xpress post/usps anymore
so add on the following
$250 shipping to conus
3% UPS duty
3% credit international fee (not all cards but seems like the norm)

What we need from Canon is a 125-500 f/4-5.6L IS for less than $4.5K and there's no reason they could not deliver such a lens. Weight would no more than 2kg and it'd make a nice 700 f/8. Really lacking a great 500mm affordable (relative term) zoom by any one. Maybe Sigma can deliver a superb sport series 500mm zoom.
As I said before the 200-400 price would be warranted if it were a 200-500 f/4 DO IMO.
