Do you mean raise ISO?
This really pushed the limit of slow shutter speed at 1/80s. I am surprised it is as sharp as it is. But wish it were sharper.
My experience with the 7D is that ISO 400 is a non-issue and where I kept the camera at as default. 800 starts to get noisy, but not noticeable if the exposure is nailed. Which I rarely do.
1600 starts to lose significant detail. However, it depends on ideal exposure and probably a more skillful use of noise reduction than I have mastered.
On the other hand, got some surprisingly workable images with the 5D MK II at ISO 12800! But I did not pair that with my long lens.

Interesting to hear your "real world" @ 5D II vs. 7D re: ISO performance.
+1 @ needing to get better at nr (referring to self) in post. Maybe that should be my 2nd half, 2013 goal by Christmas.
As to crop ... you might try and lose the tail, imo, it kinda pulls us left and makes us look at the one complete buffalo as the subject, rather than the collection.
One of the problems with long shots on a plain is the tendency to lose contrast an to dilute color with a thin white haze. Consider post processing changes to restore vibrance and contrast.
I agree to raise ISO. I shoot with Olympus and noise at higher iso's is the Achilles heel of that format. Still, I would not have hesitated to go up to 1250 to gain better SS... if you have to increase noise reduction in post and you nailed the shot with the correct ss, then you should be fine. I hate going more than 400 on my Oly gear, but will if I need the speed, when printed, the noise is not nearly so bothersome as viewing online.
Oh, and the shot looks ever so heavy on the left to me... possibly a tweak or two to the right and it would look a tad more level to me.
