I missed a sign photo opportunity a few years back.
An Arby's (roast beef sandwich restaurant) had burned down and the smoke was still rising from the rubble and the sign beside the street, with an arrow pointing to the building, said "SLOW ROASTING HERE".
The sign is still there. I may photograph and still post here, but the real moment is lost.

I'm trying to figure out what the bottom middle icon on that last sign is trying to interdict... No sword fights?
Here's one from downtown Austin. The companion sign on the other side of the exit was phrased normally. I think Yoda wrote this one.
As kdash71 noted, they are fireworks. A popular style of fireworks in China is basically a big "fishbone" of fireworks on either side, which after lit will go off in series.
Where in Austin is that sign? I'd like to go praise Yoda's work.

Ah, that makes sense. Now you mention it, I think I have seen pictures of that kind of firecracker.
Yoda's sign is at the main entrance to the parking lot of Central Market North, on the right as you go up Lamar, about 42nd street-ish. When you go in, the roadway in front of you is the entrance; his sign is on the right.

if you want to make a memorable photograph that says something more than just "this is a picture of a sign" there has to be some context
I, for one, like "just pictures of signs".
They're quite similar to "just a picture of a bird". Or "just a picture of the Grand Canyon."
Not every photo needs to "say" something. The overwhelming majority of photos here on FM are "just a picture of something."
