You know you have a winner when so many take the time to comment. This is so striking a scene, I love it. I wonder if the brightness of the vegetation at the bottom tends to draw the eye away from the staggering view of the sky, mountains and river?

I love the sky and mountains and how you worked the stars in the 2nd version. I would definitely prefer a cleaner composition though if it was possible from your location. I dont think the trees are needed and they kind of break apart/interfere with the mountains imo.

I love this photo, but I agree with Dave and Saasha that something is going on with the processing of the milky way. It seems unnaturally busy with bright white stars and none of the nebula/clouds. I wonder if there is any way to recover that.

Thanks guys, I do appreciate the comments. I've tweaked the hires file, and gone with the less saturated/intense blue glow on the horizon.

For me the first is more appealing as the blues look too saturated in the 2nd version. Either way they are great!

Great shot, nice placement of the Milky Way and good job layering the multiple exposures. I need to try some clear sky Milky Way shots myself!
