Thanks so much for the replies; you guys are great. I agree with those of you who think it could go either way as far as whole/cropped options go. It's obvious which I prefer (the story of the flood lies mostly in the foreground), but I don't make photos just for me.

A side note: this location was covered in snow again just a few days ago (Friday, May 24). The ground around the lake was all white, and the trees were all flocked. There was 30cm of new snow on the mountains in the background, and they had to close the pass over them. Crazy weather this year!

Man I just love your processing style. All the images you have posted here and on your website are super crisp, detailed, and natural looking.

This composition doesnt do a whole lot for me though unfortunately. Id either like to see a lot more of the features you have shown partially (foreground, right hills, and tree tops), or less features to aid my simple brain absorb the image easier :P

And about the snow the other day....Pics or it didnt happen!

Then a pic you shall have! It just so happens that I kept a screen capture of the webcam view that day (the webcam shows the lower lake): LINK. It's hard to believe that was one week after the shot I posted in this thread.

Congrats on a superb picture. Seems like everything fell in place, and I particularly enjoy your use of blended exposures that look very natural but I'm sure is extremely detailed in the original size image.
