A few years ago- offshore.
About a mile offshore, I don't know if it came inland, or did damage, or even if it was really much of a twister.
Certainly nothing like those that occur in Tornado Alley.

Waterspout- yeah, I've heard them called that too- just didn't recall the name when I posted the shot.
Judging by the look of it though, it seems quite like some tornadoes I've seen on the news.
I suppose the causes are similar- just not as severe.
Nonetheless- it's the first large one I've ever seen off-shore.

They are very common in the Gulf of Mexico, offshore of Texas. Not unusual to see several a day, especially when water surface temps near 90 degrees.

Since the AIR temperature along the Oregon coast almost never reaches 90 degrees, that might explain why we seldom have water spouts. The day I took this the air temp almost reached 60 degrees, though .
