Most of the discussion seems to be about how to approach the problems in better ways.
I just fiddled with brightness/contrast, and sharpening and got this:
Maybe not better- but it is different .

Thanks Charlie; I have been told so many times I over-process (ie: sharpen, vibrance, etc.) that I am gun-shy.. Jim

I find Palouse a challenge also. It is hard to get a different look. I have done a couple b&w conversions that looked nice; the textures in the rocks work well.

One of these days I will hike to the bottom, that is a rare look from what I have seen. Getting out before dark will be a problem though... and it gets DARK there!

Hi Jim,

I hope you don't mind me adding another pic. I got this perspective by using a 6 foot ladder with an added platform. I picked my spot and put the ladder against the fence.

Paul; You have an ambitious goal. That is a long way down, and even longer coming out... ... Be sure to post image when you get it.. Jim

This is a cool perspective (pun intended).. Thank you for posting.. The chance of getting me on a ladder, near the fence in warm, or cold weather is NONE... Jim
