I guess most RAW shooters were frustrated because they were not able to see the thumbnails or open the RAW files in Windows Explorer without a Codec. An example is the RW2 from Panasonic.
Well, I just found out that Microsoft has released a Camera Codec Pack since Dec 2012 that support many different brands.
Brands supported so far are: Canon, Casio, Epson, Kodak, Konica Minolta, Leica, Olympus, Nikon, Panasonic, Pentax and Samsung.
Fred, Please post this thread to wherever you think is the right place. Thanks!
Nikon has always had a codec pack that provided thumbnails. For a while they didn't support 64 bit but even that has been supported for over a year now.

Thanks for posting the link - I guess I'm behind the times and did not know about the codec.

RW2 has always worked fine for me
Nice to know that yours works without having to download a Codec for the RW2 files.
May I know which version of the OS you are using as well as the CD from which camera that you purchased. Both my GF-1 and GH-1 won't allow to view the thumbnails and open the RAW files from Windows 7 Explorer (both 32 and 64-bit versions). So never bother to try the CD from my GX-1.
