p.1 #1 · Big Glass Backpack

I pre-ordered a 200-400mm last week and I am now thinking about how to carry it. It may fit in my F-Stop Loka's large pro ICU ( 14 inches for ICU vs 14.4 inches for lens) but that would only be with no body attached.

I want a bag that I can transport the lens (without the body attached) and my other gear (2 gripped bodies, 70-200mm f2.8IS II, 24-105mm and 1.4X extender) and have the option to attach a body and also shoot out of the bag. This way I would be rarely changing lenses in the field to minimize dust issues.

If I move up to an F-Stop Tilopia with an XL ICU, it has a 19" dimension which would work.

How does everyone that has 500mm and 600mm lens transport them and then what do you shoot out of?

As for shooting we are talking about Yellowstone with a group, African safaris and the like.

Congratulations on your order!!

Sounds like for you to travel I would look at Gura Gear. Has worked for me over the years. Also the bags listed in this post work also.

Thanks, I've been waiting for over two years and wondered if it would ever come out.

Which Gura Gear bag have you used and what size lens do you carry in it? Do you have the body attached to the lens?

How are Gura Gear bags for shooting out of? I love the F-Stop bags for transport as they are very comfortable due to the internal frame and great harness, but they are a bit of a hassle to shoot out of. It would seem that the butterfly opening on the GG bag would make it easier to shoot out of.

Powaysteve I’m sure many people will help you carry your new investment .

We have now the Bataflae 32L going from the Kiboko. Used the Kiboko a lot and easy to use and work out of. For traveling the 600mmII fits on one side without and you can’t attach a body to it. A 500mmII you can attach a body to it and you can with the 200-400mm. Have not a problem traveling on airlines putting it in the upper storage or in a pinch under the seat. I’ll be putting two Kiboko’s in the sale section in the next few days.

How do you like the Bataflae 32L? Is the harness comfortable with a full load? There is a demo bag for sale at Outdoor Photo Gear with 10% off that makes it look like a very good deal.

I have not loaded mine up yet and carried it around. Wife went on a trip and said it was fine, but she does not complain much unless there is a problem. Full load for her for airport travel is around 32 pounds.

Another vote for Bataflae 32L backpack. It perfectly fits a 600mm with a 1.4x teleconverter attached. To my surprise shoulder straps are very comfortable under the heavy load (600mm, 2 camera bodies, 70-200mm 2.8 IS, 17-40mm, 2 extenders, filters, spare batteries and other goodies ) even compared with F-Stop Tilopa backpack.

As for the OutdoorPhotoGear they also have Memorial Day promotion right now that will save you additional 10% (promo code: MDAY10) http://www.outdoorphotogear.com
