lots of other information in the under the "help" column on the bottom of the page.
Also, just try exploring it a bit. Rollover drop down menus at the top make it pretty easy, you can go right to sets, galleries, favorites, organize, groups, tons more stuff, just from the top.
When you click a pic, it will display with black background, but you can scroll down the page to see comments, sets the photo belongs to , etc... just like before. From this "level" (1) you can grab the link or bbcode like before by clicking on the box/arrow icon on the lower right. You can "star" the photo, make comments, add/edit description, view full screen and if you click the three horizontal dots on the far right bottom, you get a menu of other things, from exif, tagging, replacing, etc.
If you "right click" while hovering over the photo, you get the option to view it in various sizes depending on what size you uploaded. This is basically the same as before. If you choose, for example, "large" or "original" then it will display the image at that size on a page almost identical to previous Flickr pages... Click the blue "Photo" link at top to return to previous format (with black background and menu options.)
Things can get a little confusing until you've navigated around a bit, but basically photos are shown in 3 "levels," level 1, with black background and menus, file name, comments, the familiar filmstrip navigation, etc. (scroll down to see it all.) If you hover over the photo, you'll see a magnifying glass cursor.
If you click the pic, you'll get a "larger" view on black background, and most "clutter" disappears (level 2.) The file name and little comments and favorites icons will appear if you rollover the photo. Clicking on the tiny "comments" icon will take you back to level 1. Clicking on the x circle at the top right will also exit you back to level 1... pretty basic stuff.
If you click on the photo while in level 2, it starts a full-screen slideshow mode (let's call it level 3.) Exit this by hitting "esc" key or the x circle at top right.
All three display modes work with the right and left arrow keys.
Most menus at the top are accessible from set view, photo (level 1) view, photostream view, etc. so it's easy to go right to groups or explore from there. The format for groups and other favorites is much slicker than before, and the forums are easier to navigate... but basically not fundamentally changed from what I can see. The whole thing is just more visual, less white space, more rollovers, more inviting, perhaps, to social interaction, which I think Yahoo's trying to do with this.
I know this is all basic stuff, and really redundant to many people, but since DaveOls asked, I though I'd try to help a bit. If anyone has any "tips" feel free to throw them into the mix.
When compared to Google +, which basically took all Picasa galleries and made them Google + the default, to me Flickr has the edge because of the communities/groups, but I guess we'll see. I use both, and do seem to get far more "views" on my Picasa images, but no real feedback or discussions there. On Flickr, I still find it easier to locate the categories of images or interest I'm looking for, and drill down deeper.
For now, I'm keeping my recurring pro membership, since it's cheap, and no ads...
