I agree. Bob. I never knew what he was doing- but then, it was a grab shot: see it, like it, shoot it, leave .
He certainly wasn't texting, or using a cell phone, or checking his digital camera (those things were still in the future).
Maybe opening a pack of cigarettes? Dunno (sic), but I liked all the shadows.

That's a definite possibility, Jim.
It would place more emphasis on the man and his own shadow, true.
But as is, the man is the subject and the other (odd) shadows make an interesting object, imo.
They also better show the context, the warmth of the light and the angles of the shadows.
