I think they're all really nice. I like your 35mm crop, loving all that detail & the water is a plus for me, however they are all good comps.

I'm with the edited 18 crop, Ben...I really like the contrast of some green in the image
cheers Andrew

Great shots indeed. Hard choice between the second and the last one. But I guess the second one is my preference.

Hey Ben,

I will echo Jim's comments. Both are great, but go to a pano crop and lose most of the sky. You should have had a 'both' option on your poll.

I agree with Ben & Jim. Nice work

I go with the 35mm, The detail is much clearer, and the colors seem more realistic. There is something about the 18mm that just doesn't quite sit well with me although the composition is excellent.

For web sized images I like the 35 mm shot for it's clarity and visual impact. Although I can' say if it still be my choice when printed large

Good point the wide angle has plenty of detail at full size and will print well, but at web size it lacks the impact of the 35mm shot.

They are both excellent shots Ben. The 18mm version edged it for me, especially the cropped one.

I like both of the first two more than the last crop. I am a sucker for dark blue skies, so for me, the first edges out the second.

The foreground on the 18mm crop was the stronger pic for me. My only nic is I wished you had include the complete trunk on the left tree.

I like the cropped pano composition best, but I would enhance the red serpentine road which I loved in the 35mm version

I prefer #1 but I think you have too much sky without a lot happening in it. I'd prefer less sky and more foreground. A lovely shot. Been thee and you did a nice job.

Here is what I had in mind about the road. I couldn't do much with the small file

Me too and I am ok with the uncropped version it was my favorite but family members prefered the 35mm, hence the poll before printing for hanging.

I am still undecided about the 18mm cropped which requires a new frame or uncropped which fits and existing frame.

This place is not a big challenge for DR, a .6 Singh Ray reversed ND grad for the sky and one shot does the trick. I bracketed +/- 1/3 stops and any one will process fine. A bit ot Topaz for some added pop and its done. A 5 minute processing job which is satisfying to me when I don't need much fixing.

That road comes from the Potash plant east of here and continues to the junction of Shafer Trail and White Rim road. I just sort of accept it as part of the scene and did not enhance or subdue it. I suppose I would prefer it not be there at all, but it is and everyone knows it is.It was even in the movie Thelma and Louise.

Hey Ben,

Thanks for sharing!

Next time I am there I will see if there is another angle. I went up the afternoon before to scout and found 3 places to try. I looked at the shots on my laptop and decided on this one. But it looks a lot different in predawn light and one place was pretty hard to find.

I took one a month ago and cannot for the life of me discover where it is and its not a big area to search.
