I have the 180 2.8D and want something longer. I really don't want to spend the money for a 300 or one of the siggy zooms. I will if I have to.
SO my question is, if I were to add a tele to this lens, which one would you recommend and how much quality will I be losing? I am using this on a D600 and D7100. On the D7100, I have the additional 1.3x on top of the normal 1.5. So if I added a 1.4x tele it would be like having a 500mm. But I know quality will degrade some, its just a matter of how much. If it makes it worse than having one of the siggy tele zooms then I may just save and get one or save and get the 300 4.
Besides the IQ degradation, AF will REALLY take a hit with the TC. The Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 DGX will fit,
but I doubt the Nikon TC-14E II will w/o a mod. The AF-S 300 f4 is what you want, save up...and do it right.
Good glass always trumps TC's and/or variable aperture zooms, there's no free lunch eh?!
