i have a D3s and a sigma 70-200 with a 1.4 teleconverter.i look at all the photos here and just dream about getting mine that sharp.is it possible to do it with what i have now?i am working on getting something longer just cant right now.
this was with a sigma 18-250 mm f/3.5-6.3. Manual exposure, 1/640 sec, f/8, ISO 200
I know nothing about sigma lens so I can't comment on that. I can say ... Keep at it. 280mm is very short. The eagles will need to be very close. I'd encourage you to keep trying. Get one good shot and you will be hooked.
Get your shutter speed up over 1/1500. You might have motion blur here .
Get a really good lens and the D3s WILL deliver. The 300 f4 with TC-14E II would be about the minimum
unless your eagles are used to people and you can get closer. There's no free lunch for BIF IQ. GL
PS. I'm partial to the 300 w/TC-17E II...poor mans 500, it delivers in spades.
SOOC, just to give ya an idea on FX
I can tell you are already hooked and wanting more focal length
I know nothing about the Sigma lens, but as already suggested try and get closer and up your shutter speed.
thank you!this was hand held but close.i will keep on.we have just started getting eagles in this part of Alabama and it put chills on me to just see them.
