I had this thought that perhaps instead of using dual Canon DSLRs 6D's tha I would go back to one main camera (the other as back up in the car) and use a smaller fixed lens camera for details and instant moments that would be lighter to carry and still make an impact.
I'm thinking Fuji X100 or Sigma DP Merrill or maybe Lieca X1 or X2.

I'd love to try a Leica for this reason, but since I can't afford one right now (although I will rent one at least once!), I'm thinking an X100S would do nicely.

RX1?
I've thought about exchanging my third body for something like an X100S or RX1. I've not done it yet though, I'm not in a great rush (I have a system that works), and I'd rather wait for the technology to mature further.
Long term, I can see myself using a couple of RX1 type cameras if they bring out complimentary focal lengths (eg 35/85). Just "ideas" though.

Thanks all for chiming in. Yes the RX1 would be on the list but $2700 is not my idea of a side camera, although maybe in a few years used it will be. The Sigma DP Merrills are interesting to me because the image quality seems fantastic however I hear that the high ISO are not so good and by high I hear its 400 and up so in this day and age not so good, but at the same time I used to shoot every wedding and every shot with Reala 100 so I should be able to make it work.
@joelconner do you think they mix well as final images I mean the X100 and the 5d3's? I just took a look around your site(beautiful by the way, love your work) and I can't seem to find any that scream X100 so I guess thats a good thing. Any samples you could point out?

I've certainly liked the idea of a Leica in the past, and that hasn't entirely gone away. But from my research on this forum, asking current users, I was told by some that compared to other more 'regular' cameras (eg our SLR's) that Leicas (eg M9) need more PP than any other comparable camera to get the most out of it. Didn't get the impression JPEGS were really usable.
Part of the appeal of the Fujis is that they seem to deliver great SOOC.

The two times I find myself using it the most is during the prep time (I usually have a 24 on one body and either a 50 or 85 on the other) and during more light, candid parts of the day (like during family formals when I am letting my wife set up the groups or in casual times during the reception)

I use NEX as my primary camera, m43 as my backups these days. The only problem with NEX is there are times when the focus will hunt if you use AF lenses in very dark conditions. I would give the edge to my D3200 in those situations.
However, since I use manual focus on NEX, response is much faster than DSLR, especially in dark conditions.
My NEX 7 is usually mated to Zeiss 25, 28, or Voigt Nokton 58 1.4. Killer combos and imho much better jpgs than Canon or Nikon.
