p.1 #1 · Spring Migration--The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!!
As an avid birder and photographer for the past seven to eight years, I've come to realize that Spring Migration is far and away the most exciting time of the year for the bird photographer. Unfortunately for me, spring is also the time when finals are administered which means that's when all of the heavy duty studying is done for the year! Since I just graduated (ended on April 30th with a fairly light rotation), this is the first year that I've had a large chunk of free time during spring migration, and I've been trying to take advantage of it here in Central Indiana. Almost all shots taken with Canon 7D and 600 f4 IS L.

Thanks everyone! It's been a blast having a lot of time off during migration. Today, I wanted to punish myself for not having my camera with me. I was part of a Big Day team and out pops a Connecticut Warbler, more or less out in the open (which is almost unheard of in migration for these guys). I ran back to the car, and when I returned, he was hopping up higher and higher into the tree, very difficult to relocate. Long story short, I didn't get any shots at all of this mystical bird.
I didn't have a camera because much of a Big Day is about speed in an area, and setting up/tearing down can eat up time and taking photos eats up time since all one should care about on a Big Day is total number of species seen/heard.

Congrats on making the most of your free chunk of Spring Eric... great variety, very well done.
Vesper Sparrow, Eastern Bluebird, Cerulean Warbler, and Gray Catbird are my favorites.
