p.1 #1 · Sensor cleaning frustrations until today

Like many, I started with the simple rocket blower then after 100s of lens changes and Imatest blemish detect showing me it was time to wet clean I bought Eclipse Sensor Swabs.

Despite using several to try to clean there were two problems- left fibers and smearing.

Out of frustration I called the guys at Lens Rentals and asked what they were doing these days.

They told me Dust Aid and Dust Wand. I ordered last week and the stuff came today.

You'll need a magnifying glass to read the instructions.

Used the blower first, then a wet pass with the wand and a new dry cloth with the wand. Then used the Dust Aid to pick up any debris. Close examination with a loupe showed no dust, no smears, no residue. Imatest confirmed that.

There may be something better but this worked great.

(I am not associated with Dust Wand in any way)

How about a link to where you got it. I don't think I've heard of it, and it's getting close to when I probably need to order something. I have one sensor swab left.

I have Amazon Prime but chose to buy it directly from the Dust Aid website. It was $60 for both kits. Not being able to get the sensor clean was really a pain.

Just did some Imatests. The clean sensor is giving results 20% higher than before.
