p.1 #1 · Widebody SL55 AMG shot with my Fuji X-Pro-1
Before all else, mod's feel free to move this to the appropriate subforum. I didn't see one dedicated to automotive photography so I decided to put it in the next best thing since it was all shot with the Fuji X-Pro 1 and 35 f/1.4.
I don't know who remembers but when I started shooting 3 years ago, I did it because I loved cars and that passion was pushed into this wonderful hobby. Scott's was a fellow member on my350z and he allowed me to shoot his gorgeous Hennessey Venom GT650r even though I had no clue what I was doing.
Fast forward 3 years and I mostly shoot portraits now but was ecstatic when he called me up to shoot his Widebody SL55 AMG. This was all hand built by him. The only things he didn't do were the tuning and the mounting of the tires. Talking with him makes me want to start up my passion for cars again but, as well all know too well, photography gear isn't cheap and I'm still adding to my arsenal haha.
With that said, I should mention that my colorblindness really hurt me on this shoot. While I am confident when it comes to certain colors, this paint was difficult for a # of reasons. I trust My Fuji X-Pro1 with color reproduction more than any camera I've used before. When I presented some of the final shots for the client, he loved the shots but in his mind, the blue was darker than what I thought and what my camera captured. Despite my contest to make the car darker, at the end of the day, it's the client's request and so it is done.
One last thing, so we were trying to move into the spot but this crackhead lady wasn't listening to us asking her to move so we were sitting on the bike path trying to park over by the viewing spot for no more than 15 seconds when this guy comes up on his bike cursing and asking us what we're doing and saying it's illegal blah blah. So we basically tell him to mind his own business or go get the cops if he so desires. By that time the crackhead moved so we parked it and I hurried trying to get as many shots as possible when the firemen in the station to the right came out. I immediately apologized to them and offered to leave but they said no way and to take as much time as we wanted and continued to get pics of it and chat with the owner while I shot haha.
