What do you think the lighting setup was to get results like these? I would like to know how much effort was required to get a shot like these?

Use the sun as a backlight/rim light, expose for the scene, use a multiple speed lights or strobe to fill. Edit to taste.

Which ones? Some were shot outdoors in open shade with fill flash, some were shot in direct sun with either fill flash or reflector panels, at least one (I quit looking at that point) was shot in a studio with a multiple-strobe setup, etc.
