I see people walking bare footed in your third shot so obviously they don't allow any footwear inside the main premises...is that right? Or is it due to one's religion or tradition/culture?

I went with "Road Scholar" tour company, they made all the arrangements - all good hotels. But recognize you will get brown water in good hotels also... just the way it is..
I would suggest you go to their website and view their itinerary and note the stops and hotels. It can be a good road map for you

Just cultural preferences... It was mobbed... They were more concerned about pedestrian traffic control (for good reason)
