The similarity in tones from face to clothing to background means she doesn't jump off the screen perhaps as much as you might want her to, but I still really love this shot! It conveys tons of personality. Nice work.

Yeah, its tough...very pale skin, white gi, white wall... Thank you for the compliment though.
That image will unfortunately have to wait. This was taken before the test. She had to memorize and do 100 different moves and combos to get her junior black belt. Her belt and gi are at her moms place, so it will be a bit before I can shoot that.
This particular 50/1.8 Series E was a free lens from an old Nikon FG camera my aunt gave me. The electronics were shot and camera and lens sat on my display shelf with all my other vintage cameras. One day I stumbled onto the MF Nikon thread and decided to see if my D7000 could take the Series E 50. Fast forward a year and I know that lens like no other. I also own a growing fleet of other MF glass. I do not own a single AF lens anymore.
I tried messing around with the shot a bit, each time I do I keep coming back to this one. What do you all think would help this image out? One of the things I tried was layering a 1/3 stop darker image under this and use a mask to make my daughter pop out a bit. It was a quick test, but it may show promise...

Where is the new picture? If you replaced the original with the new one, we can't compare the two. It's best to not replace your original photos because the comments that follow are based on it, and after replacement they don't make sense.
