p.1 #1 · S95 underwater settings

Quick question, for diving am I better off shooting in raw with this thing or use the custom "underwater" mode for both video and photo? Will be going about 60-100' down tomorrow..

Thanks!

I shoot mine in RAW with the underwater white balance set.

RAW allows me to tweak things a bit without worrying about degradation.

What housing are you using? The canon housing?

Cheers

I shoot a G9 and use a pair of old strobes which ONLY fire at full power and RAW makes a huge difference in the final results. below 60 feet you'll need to use the flash & I expect the Canon housing will include a difusser so use both but know your light won't be good beyond a few yards. This photo would have much less colour had it been a jpg. First step in processing (using ACR in Photoshop)is a white balance correction & everything's pretty simple to tweak after that.

yea I came back with a bunch of blue images lol. Gonna try it again tomorrow morning, but the ones with the flash (yes it has a diffuser) looked way worse than the ones without.
