The fact that the road is not defined makes this image quite surreal, the composition and tonal range is terrific, great shot Charlie.

White Sands is pretty much a land of varying shades of white- plus the blue sky and its reflections.
Convert to B&W and the sky and water add to the whiteness of the scene.
