p.1 #1 · Wanting to utilize my "slow" macbook..... | |
So, i've got a 2007 white MacBook...Core 2 duo 2.0ghz, 4gb ram, 250gb SSD.......My main computer is a 2011 Core i3 iMac, with 8gb of ram....I run Mountain Lion on the iMac, and Leopard on the MacBook.....
My main workflow involves Aperture 3....for culling, editing, etc. The thing i like about it, is that i can edit WHILE i cull....like sometimes i dont know if i like a photo and want to keep it or throw it out, until i've done a few tweaks.....that's why i like Aperture, as opposed to just using Bridge, or Photomechanic.....i can do those little quick edits seamlessly....
I would LIKE to be able upgrade the OS on my white macbook, and then install Aperture 3, that way....that way, if i need to, i can cull on the laptop, and do basic little edits, that don't involve any color correction, and then export a project as a library, and pick up right where i left off on my main computer.....
BUT, then i can only go as far as OS 10.7 (Lion) on this laptop.....which you can still get through Apple, just have to call them directly....but is it worth it?? Only problem with Apple is that next time they release something, it'll only run on the newest OS....and sometimes they release an OS that will only work on the newest machines...but that aside...
If i do something like Photomechanic, i can still cull quickly, but cant do little edits along the way....also, any edits i DO make in like camera raw, wont transfer back over to Aperture once i get home....
Do i just go ahead and buy a new MacBook, or just run what i brung (i bought this 2007 macbook for $200, and have put like $250 into it between a battery, SSD, and 4gb of ram, so it's not like i have a ton tied up in it)....
Anyone else out there do a mixed workflow between a couple different programs on different machines?
