I have a Zeiss rifle scope no. 611949 that was installed on a Mauser rifle in Salzburg Austria circa 1947. Would anyone have any information on this scope or where I might find user information such as instuctions, manuels, etc?
There is mention of Zeiss scopes in 1947 in the link below. The rifle it was installed on is not important, but where the scope was manufactured is - it could be a Zeiss Jena made in post war Russia, if you are going to track it down. Scopes are fairly straightforward. You don't need a instruction book or manual to use it. Call or take it to Cabelas, or Zeiss. Old scopes like the one you have are sometimes listed on E-bay.
Yes it is a Zeiss Jena. I don't need the manuel to operate it, just curious as to when is was made, how long that model was offered and any other details.
