Excellent image Justin. I agree with taking down the highlights further and maybe lightening the shadows in the mountains. Wonderful phenomenon.

Very unusual subject and great execution. So, wavy surface is all ice, too?

Oh yes, absolutely! No way I'd be brave enough to walk on it if I saw open water. My best guess is the ice was at least 16" thick. Some sections of ice were featureless though, so it looked like I was walking on water

Marvelous.

Otherworldly with the trapped bubbles.

Here is an extra fun image I captured before the sun was too intense. Using my 17mm TS-E no more then 5" away from the surface, I focus bracketed 8 shots of the cracks and bubbles. The full file has the best detail in any of my images thus far.

And here is an additional abstract taken in full midday sun. This is a focus bracketed and shifted panoramic shot for practice. 24 shots total for perfect detail throughout. It is crazy how much the colour changes in this glacier fed lake throughout the day.

Looks great Justin!

Just curious, can you bring down the luminosity in the highlights a little more (were they clipping?) It is just my opinion but mellowing out the highlights with a tad more color in them might work well here.

Thanks for the suggestions Mark and Tuan! I'll definitely take down the sky exposure when I print this shot. The shadows however, even in my 3 stop overexposed shot, contain very little detail. The trees are extremely small and dark and didn't have much light on them. Ill try my best to keep as much detail as I can though.

Hey Justin,

How really cool looking! What an amazing place and you captured it well. I think if you bring down the highlights, you will have this shot nailed in every way.

Thanks Jim. And yes, it is amazing. Limitless possibilities with all the crazy types of ice details here. I didnt even come close to capturing all that I should have. If anyone is planning a visit try coming in January, a couple days without snow prior if possible as well.

I love the very strong foreground that you have captured here. Foregrounds are something I have a tendency to struggle with. But this image is top notch. Well done.

Thanks.
