#5 My wife took this with my iphone. The Skimmer Skillet as I call it is a $20 frying pan with a 3/8 hole in the middle and handle removed. I usually use this on the beach for skimmers as it works well approaching them on my belly by just sliding the whole thing in front of me and keeping sand off of the lens. I use a 3/8 inch bolt from the bottom and a nut on top. Then, a spacer of a roll of electrical tape or a 3/4 inch slice of a 2 inch pvc conduit. I tighten the ballhead right down onto the tape or pvc and I can carry it all by the lens barrel just above the foot. Previously, on a long day at the beach, I'd have to have the tripod legs flattened out and shoot from the wimberley. To move, I'd have to get up and lift the whole thing with 3 flat legs and get it closer to the subject, then get back down and get shots. Now I just push the pan and crawl up to it. I used it for these woody shots, but I need to remove the nut and spacer and use a smaller length bolt direct to the ballhead for an even lower angle on pond shots. I required the spacer for the beach with many foreground dunes creating problems with too low of an angle.
