p.1 #1 · Prolinca (Elinchrom) sync socket not working
Is it easy and safe to look at and replace the sync socket on these flash heads? The flashes work fine through the slave but not through the sync sockets so am guessing there is a connection that has failed. I don't want to go near the capacitor but I imagine I can remove the back plate and get at the sync socket easily enough? Whilst there I could even change the socket for a standard phono sync socket

I remember a case where removing a housings resulted in shorting a capacitor through accidental contact, but I don't recall what brand of strobe it was. The photo of the strobe was pretty scary, with blackened surfaces all around, and the poster reported that when it blew it sounded like a gun shot. No one was hurt, fortunately.
If you proceed, please use caution, and make sure you're not alone in case someone needs to call an ambulance. (Yes, I'm probably being overly dramatic.)
