Kirk,
I have watched your work for quite some time. This series really shows how you have advanced and put a lot of dynamics into your photos. Just a thought from a very novice photographer.

Wow Larry, I really appreciate your very kind compliment. This forum continues to be a great place to learn and grow and share.
I have enjoyed your work as well, and you are waaaaaaay beyond a novice my friend.
Do you mind if I ask what your PP is like? Of course you're getting the sunrise colors here, but the even at that, the DR and color balance of the scene is very clean, deep and beautiful. It looks like minimal tweaks, just curious!

Thanks so much for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the set.
I'm really loving the greatly improved DR and color rendering of the D800 over my old D300... really loving it.
MY PP took a very positive turn and significantly improved my images IMO when 1) Tom Sanders helped me see the benefit of using the mid-tone slider and 2) when Karl Witt improved one of my Green Heron images by simply adding some much needed contrast... both of these steps when properly used, produce deeper and richer colors which I have really grown to love. If I need to, I might boost the color just a bit too. I use Capture NX2 which allows me to easily do these adjustments locally with control points if I don't want to affect the whole image.
PP is definitely an evolving art for me, and I am so grateful to Tom and Karl and others who continue to help me grow.
Hope this helps, just PM me if you want more info.
