It seems the sensor in the 100D/SL1 will have a different (newer) sensor from the 700D.
The sensor named "APS-C hybrid-CMOS AF II" (sic) do offer moving object AF points spread over 80% of the sensor area.
No information on any improvements in DR or banding though!
So the T5i might not be a major upgrade for T4i users but for owners of a T2i (550D in the UK) it looks like a great upgrade and it wasn't for my recent 6D purchace I'd probably get one.
The Rebel series cameras are updated yearly and there has never been major jumps between releases, well apart from XTi-XSi and T3i-T4i... anyway I don't see why you would need to cahnge you camera on a yearly basis, surely any shooter would benifit from spending thier money on glass first?
I'd be very interested in going into a shop to try out the SL1, after using a 1Ds2 for many years the current Rebels feel tiny to me, so this camera would seem to barely exist!
Would make a good super emergency backup body in your bag that only takes the space of a small lens...
I really like the idea of a "pocketable" camera with the SL1 that I can use with my existing lenses. I could find a good match for the 40mm pancake now and it looks like a great street shooting combo for an effective 64mm FL or so.

Well, a EF-S 24mm pancake for an effective 38mm could seal the deal for more people.
I'm very interested in the SL1. The difference in size (especially height and thickness) is huge! Canon NEEDS to produce a 20mm pancake lens and I'll preorder the combo on the announcement.
