It was such a beautiful day today, in central Alabama. I wasn't able to go out to any local spots, so I had to shoot around the house. I love the challenge of shooting these small birds- they dart around, they duck in and out of cover, and boy are they fast. One of these days, I'm going to get an in flight shot of one of them... C&C always welcome and appreciated. I've really been practicing focusing on the eye with the center point, which is a lot harder than I imagined.

Charles! Nice looking set with good variety.
2 things (some of these vary with tastes/personal preference so ignore my ideas as you see fit).
1. Crops feel a little tight or too sqare"ish" in some cases. Maybe try a different aspect ratio or back out on the crop some and see what you think. I know not always the easiest composition opportunities when shooting little moving subjects with center point auto focus.
2. Some of the highlights look a little bright. Maybe dial those back a tad with exposure slider or recovery slider and I think you might regain some detail or color.
I like 1 and 10 a lot and the wren and the background on that shot I like.
In any case, I can see an improvement in the consistency of focus in your shots so good job.
Is that pine warbler usually in your yard? I'm gonna come over one day and camp out and see if I can get a shot of it. Maybe scare your neighbors a bit...I'll bring the bushhawk.

Thanks Morris, Ron, and Brian.
Good advice, Brian. I've got a little room to work with on the originals, so I'll try some other crops. It's always a guessing game. Good tip on the highlights too. The sad part is, I did use the recover slider on most of these... just not enough I reckon.
The pine warbler was not at my place, but I do have one that comes every so often.

Good set Charlie. The first nutty is my fave. A lovely pose and good detail.
Thank you, Ken. That was one cooperative nuthatch- it stayed motionless for about 30 seconds.
