(I would suggest the neck crop is appropriate for some actor's head shots and mug shots, but generally not the best for classic portraits.)

While I'm sure it isn't "hard & fast" ... it gives cause to at least consider the various points as to what you're "chopping off" and whether that will be helpful or not. I personally like the red lines at the ears ... reminds me of Van Gogh.
