We had 30 MPH sustained wind at Jones Beach and gusts to about 50. This was one of the few moments when we had blue sky though the waves and birds are in the shade of a cloud.
Morris,
I like the energy of the birds & the wave action.
I'm not sure about the amount of beach at the bottom but you may have cropped a lot.
Might crop out some of the bottom and some from the left to keep the dominant waves in the comp.
Nicely seen
Your trademark touch is all over this image Morris... I really like the waves in the BG and the blurred wings.
Have you considered more of a pano look with 25% cropped off the bottom?
Wonderful image.
This is great feedback on the crop. I did not want the sandpipers in the middle of the screen so I put them on the top thirds intersection in the original. I experimented and found that I could take the dark sand at the bottom off which I’d used as a natural frame and see that the bright waves grab the eye and the sandpipers strong contrast to the wave catches the eye which then wonders down to the rest of the flock.
I think both are excellent, Morris.
I prefer the crop because the foreground sand is a bit too OOF for me.
Generally, OOF in the distance doesn't bother me as much as when it's up close. Just a quirk .
Nice work, for sure. And based on your initial terrific shot.
