p.1 #2 · One Man's Journey (Which way should he go?)
I'm not sure what to say. It is evocative, and I think well composed. The high contrast and blur make it a bit disconcerting and not as easy to look at as I would like. I keep going back and forth whether that is good or not. I think it is growing on me... I have to get a little back from the monitor, let my focus go and relax... then it comes right...
p.1 #13 · One Man's Journey (Which way should he go?)
I really dig this shot! After looking at them both, I think I like the first one (man walking right to left) better, though I can't quite say why. Perhaps because the implied diagonal from taller tree to shorter tree then leads top left to bottom right, so as I "read" the photograph I go through each of the trees and end up on the person which is to me the element that brings the photo together.
p.1 #14 · One Man's Journey (Which way should he go?)
I like right to left. We read from left to right - top to bottom. That naturally leaves us pondering the man and not empty space, and also keeps our eyes from continuing out of the frame.
p.1 #16 · One Man's Journey (Which way should he go?)
Left - Right for occidental audience.
Right - Left for oriental audience.
Also, I'd find it interesting if you carefully selected the man and flipped him so that he is walking out of frame - thus violating a rule of composition for effect.
